Being first time  mom, you will get so much advice, and most of the time that advice is unsought. Sometimes this bombardment of advice will irritate you, but there is no way out. The advantage of this is that you will not feel as lonely as moms in Western countries might feel. You can ask a family member to take care of your baby, but if someone is not around, you can easily get a maid. Just remember though—you may not be lucky enough to get a good one! Whether you can find childcare or not, it’s your obligation to take care of your baby no matter how stuck you are.

Here is a part one of survival guide for first-time moms in Pakistan. Some of these tips may be helpful in overcoming the fatigue of sleepless nights and tiring days.

1. Listen to Everyone But Don’t Follow Everyone’s Advice

First of all, it is necessary to listen to the advice given to you at every formal and informal gathering, but it is not necessary to follow everything that is said. Try not to give the impression that you don’t believe or value their advice, as people are sure that their way of taking care of babies is the best one on Earth. Let them think so! You can just pick and choose whatever suits you.

2.As a Mom, You Can Handle Your Baby in The Best Way

Be confident that as a mom, you can handle all your baby’s nitty-gritty needs in a way that nobody else will be able do. So plan things in your own way. You are a unique person and will have a unique way of managing your life and solving problems. Don’t worry if you handle your baby differently than your sister or sister-in-law handles her children.

3. Forget Your Life without Kids

You are a changed woman now. Your acknowledgement of this fact will help you in coping with your life as a mom. Don’t try to establish your life on the patterns of your single life or life without kids.

4. Don’t Be Obsessed with your Fatigue

It’s normal to get tired. Don’t fixate on or become anxious over your tiredness, as this obsession will just exhaust you even more.

5. Keeping yourself Calm for yourself and your Baby

Your routine may be insane as a first-time parent, but you need to stay sane. Keeping yourself calm is the key to success as a first-time mom. Your baby is experiencing this world for the first time, and you are experiencing everything related to your baby for the first time. Your baby cannot keep calm, but you can try. If you are calm and stay composed, you can easily calm an irritated baby. Remember, the more composed you are, the easier it is to keep your baby calm.

6.Learn to Accept Help

As an individual, you might be very self-reliant and like to do everything on your own. But once you are a mom—especially a first-time mom—you must learn how to accept help. A newborn in the home brings with it a wave of excitement, and so many people around you will want to pamper him or her. Let everyone enjoy and take care of your baby, and you can relax in the meantime. Don’t feel guilty about accepting help because after a few days, everyone will get busy and you probably won’t be able to find help.
