Here is a part 2 of survival guide for the mom who works 24/7 and first-time working moms in Pakistan:

1. Learn to Ask for Help

If your extended family lives close by and is willing, learn to ask them for help. You can pay either in cash or in the form of gifts. That will make your life easier.

2. Hire a Maid for Weekdays and Weekends too

The best option is to hire a maid who can help you with household chores. Make sure your maid is helpful and not irritating. It is worth it to pay extra money to have the maid come on the weekends, too, because that is the time when you can relax.

3.Manage to Have your Maid 24/7 or at Least for Twelve Hours

If possible, have either a full-time maid or one who can come in the evening so that you can have a few moments of peace and quiet. It will be common for your babysitter—even if this is your mother- or sister-in-law—to hand over your baby as soon as you walk in the door, full of stories about how difficult and fussy your child has been all day. People never realize that you are coming home after a whole day’s work and that you need some time to rest. Instead, it is usually assumed that you have come back after a casual outing.

4.Give yourself Feast in the Form of Saloon Visits

Hand over your baby to your husband and spend some time at the salon. Try a new haircut or hairstyle. A good deep-cleansing facial treatment can help you look fresh. A foot massage will also be soothing for you, and you will feel like you’re pampering yourself. Time for yourself is very necessary whether you’re a working or stay-at-home mom.

5.Celebrate a New’You’

Go shopping and buy new clothes, shoes and bags for yourself. No doubt you already have a lot of accessories, but buying new things will help you celebrate a new YOU. Trust me, you are not wasting money. It is your right to spend your hard-earned money on yourself.

6.Make your Own Comfort a Priority

Learn to make yourself a priority. I have heard of situations in which in-laws encourage a working mom not to hire a maid. They tell her that there are already so many people at home and that a maid is good for nothing. If she buys something new for herself, she is reminded that her cupboards are full of clothes and shoes. LEARN TO MANAGE SUCH COMMENTS/SITUATIONS AND DO WHAT YOU THINK IS BEST!
