Your Baby’s Growth in the Third Trimester

After a long wait of six months during which you have gone through many trials and tribulations, you are heading towards the long awaited time, i.e. delivery day. Though it is not over yet (there are still three months to go), you can relax by focusing on your baby’s arrival.

Here are some of the key highlights of your third trimester:

  1. Uneasiness Due to Baby’s Weight: The baby is growing rapidly and you are gaining more and more weight, which makes things difficult for you because now it’s even uncomfortable to walk. Even lying in bed and turning to the side becomes difficult. Due to this uneasiness, you will feel as if time is passing very slowly.
  2. Taking Care of Older Kids: Things may get bit more difficult for you if this is not your first pregnancy. You have to both fulfil your older kids’ demands and cope with your own condition. You will rarely find time to rest with kids around you all the time.
  3. Baby’s Birth and Survival: If your baby is born during this trimester, he or she will have a strong chance of survival.
  4. Preparation of Hospital Bag: Try to keep your own bag and your baby’s bag ready in case of emergency, i.e. early delivery.thrid trimester9.jpg.due date
  5. Delivery Options: In the last trimester, you need to be more in touch with your doctor and discuss delivery options. At this stage, if you are not satisfied with your doctor, go for a second opinion.
  6. Baby’s Fingernails: Your baby’s fingernails are growing. You will see that you need to cut your baby’s nails after delivery. Make sure you keep the nail clippers handy.
  7. Baby’s Ability to Open Its Eyes: Another interesting thing for you to know is that your baby can open its eyes and respond to outside light.
  8. Breathlessness: You may feel breathless during the third trimester, but don’t worry, this is normal.
  9. Increased Instability: You need to be careful in your movements: walking on slippery floors or uneven surfaces, riding in a bus or car, or lifting heavy things.
  10. Tightened Uterus: Sometimes you will feel your uterus tighten. This is a signal that you are well on your way to your D-day.
