Preschoolers’ Education in Pakistan
There was a time when Pakistani kids started their schooling at the age of five. But now preschool is an integral part of the Pakistani education system. Every school system, whether established or new, has arrangements for a preschool education. Preschool lasts for 2 years and includes a variety of schools by different names: nursery school, play group, pre-prep (and prep), KG (Kindergarten) 1 and 2, pre-junior school, Montessori school, etc.
Facts About Preschool Education in Pakistan
The following are interesting facts about preschool education in Pakistan:
- Parents are anxious to send their children to a preschool of good repute.
- Usually, it’s thought that the higher the fee is, the better the school.
- There is no uniform syllabus for preschools in Pakistan. Every school chooses its own curriculum for its preschool classes.
- This curriculum is not necessarily designed by education experts.
- In some preschools, the focus is more on making a display of the children’s learning for the sake of the parents than on the learning itself.
- Some schools have designed a syllabus that leaves no room for game-based learning for young kids.
- Every week, children are celebrating another special ‘day’: Women’s Day, Earth Day, moon day, colour day, orange day, vegetable day, fruit day, sunny day, winter day, etc.
- Sometimes your child does such wonderful work in preschool that you feel as if you are parenting the Einstein of the 21st century but also wonder why his or her genius doesn’t show at home.
- Some schools keep parents busy by inviting them almost every other day to one thing or another for their preschoolers.

Hello Yasmin,
Good to see your message. Why do you wanna send your little one to school. You can coach yourself in a better way. In preschools, they usually overburden kids.
Exactly sometime they overburden the kids with useless sallybus. In pakistan Pre-school focus on teaching books instead of personality development.
Absolutely right!
Plz help which school curriculum is best fr a kg student
Hi Dr Erum,
Good to see your question. I would suggest to select for the school which doesn’t ‘teach’ much at KG level because kids don’t need to be taught at this stage. They should be allowed to play and learn themselves. Teachers should just guide, set and monitor their activities.
Please, don’t hesitate to discuss further if required.
Kind regards

Hi Mrs Kashif,
Good to see your question. We already suggested that kids at this age don’t need particular curriculum as such. However, curriculum for them is learning via playing. Please, let them play and teach some basic facts at home.
Please don’t hesitate to contact if you want to discuss something else.
Assalam o alaikum
I also believe in activity based learning but where to find such a school in rwp esp.near bahria town phase 8.my daughter is almost 3 n a half yrs old.
Hello Mrs Anees.
You probably won’t find a perfect school. You can teach yourself or hire some teacher and monitor teaching. Actually , kids just need someone to teach basic skills.

What is best age for preschool?schools prefer a 3 year kid in playgroup which is in my opinion too early .But the problem is these schools don’t accept kid of four age in playgroup.what should I do?
Hi Faiza,
Wa alikum Salam
Keep your child at home and try teaching him/her basic skills. If your kids know basic things, all schools will accept them. They are doing business, they won’t say No in the long run.
Hope this helps.
Feel free to contact us again if you like.

Thanks
You are welcome. Regarding school going age, experts are divided on this issue. 3 years is fine if it is really a play group.i don’t know your individual circumstances, but if you really have to send her to school, you can search for the one where your child is free to play. Don’t go for big names!
