Many skin problems can happen to your skin during pregnancy. Skin problems as like, your skin may be itchy sometimes. Some women’s skin colour gets a bit darker, and freckles or other marks on the skin may also get darker. Some women develop a dark line or patch on their belly or neck, and dark spots are more prominent in underarms too. Don’t worry—these skin problems will fade away with the passage of time.

Dark patches is a skin problem which is more prominent on the parts of your skin that are more exposed to the Sun. Make sure you use a good sunscreen. Talk to your doctor if you have concerns about these patches or to ask about a high-quality sunscreen. Don’t be impressed or fooled by these so-called sunscreens that are developed by self-acclaimed experts as seen on different TV shows—they may play havoc with your skin. Either talk to your doctor about the skin patches or just leave them as they are. It usually takes several months for these patches to fade away.

Stretch marks are another skin problem faced by pregnant women. Stretch marks are narrow pink or purplish streak-like lines that can develop on the surface of the skin. You are more at risk for getting stretch marks if you gain more than an average amount of weight. Stretch marks are not dangerous in any way, so don’t treat them like a medical problem.

Finding a Doctor:

Finding a good doctor can be a big issue in Pakistan. You learn that a certain doctor is good and upon checking the charges of the hospital, discover that you cannot afford them. Don’t let this worry you; focus on finding a doctor with whom you can build a rapport. Good communication with your gynaecologist can be a big factor in keeping you relaxed during your pregnancy and at the time of delivery. Don’t forget to get a second opinion once in a while: consulting a second doctor will help you make sure that you are on track.
