Signs of labour are slightly different for every woman. Naturally, every woman manages the pain and early signs of labour in her own unique way. Below we will give a list of the most common signs of labour:
- You feel that your baby has dropped quite lower.
- You feel your tummy tighten off and on.
- Your stomach gets upset in the ninth month.

- If your discharge is similar to menstrual discharge, report it to your doctor.
- Some women experience a broken water bag (membrane rupture) before active labour. This means that the intense labour phase will begin within a few hours. However, for most women the water bag breaks during active labour.
- You may occasionally feel contractions, but it is not a sign of your labour. These contractions are preparing your cervix for delivery.
- You are ready to go if your contractions are persistent, regular, follow a certain pattern, and over time become closer together and longer and stronger.
- You are ready for delivery if your contractions do not change, stop, or become slower as a result of any body movement.
