Causes of  Baby Crying

Communication Via Crying

Infants communicate through crying, so it is important that parents learn to decode the crying to find out what their child’s message is. Here are some of the possible reasons (other than colic) for a baby to cry:

  • Hunger— a Major reason for Baby Crying: A very common cause of crying is hunger. When a baby is hungry, he/she will communicate this by crying. Make sure you know your baby’s feeding times and stick to them to avoid a mess.
  • Sleepiness: Babies cry when they feel sleepy. Understandably, they have no other way of telling you that they need to sleep. You can help eliminate this cause of crying by understanding your baby’s sleep patterns and establishing a regular sleep schedule.
  • Uncomfortable Temperatures: Your baby doesn’t need too many clothes, even in winter. Sometimes, a baby cries when he/she is overdressed and feels too hot. On the other hand, sometimes your baby will feel too cold if, for example, you turn the air conditioner too high. Watch the temperature of the room and your baby’s body temperature.
  • Wet Diaper: Another common reason for crying is that a baby’s diaper needs to be changed. Try to change your baby’s diaper at regular intervals, even if it’s not wet, and apply powder or cream to your baby’s bottom. This will keep your baby comfortable.
  • Need for Human Touch:  In Pakistan, when babies are brought up in joint families, there is always one person or another who can pick up the baby. In this way your child will become accustomed to human touch and may not be calmed down unless picked up by someone. baby crying needs human touch
  • Too Much or Too Little Stimulation: A baby may cry because there is either too little or too much stimulation. Keep the environment pleasant and peaceful. A noisy, crowded function may be overwhelming for your baby and result in tears, but at the same time, your child will want to feel your presence and hear your voice to feel calm and safe. Absolute silence or the feeling of being alone may make him/her upset.
