Sexting and the Young Pakistani Generation

Sexting is formed from two words: ‘sex’ and ‘texting’. Logically, then, it is sending or receiving text messages having sexual words or images. Sexting has been in fashion since online chatting or messaging became common.

Every now and then, a story is reported involving the terrible consequences of sexting. As reference, the following stories hit the news in 2015. In one instance, a teacher was jailed after it was proved that she sexted her student. More recently, a Missouri state House Speaker had to resign in May 2015 when the information that he was sexting with an intern was leaked to the media. In addition to the consequences shown by these public news scandals, recent research has shown that sexting can result in depression and anxiety in young people.
